Enrollment Questions
How do I enroll and when is payment for the program due?
The cost of the Guest Protection Program will be reflected on your A&K invoice.
• Premium for the Guest Protection Program plus Cancel Anytime upgrade is due within 14 days of your trip deposit.
• Premium for the Guest Protection Program can be paid at any time prior to or with final payment to include coverage for pre-existing conditions.
• Premium for the Guest Protection Program can be paid at any time up to 24 hours prior departure, however will not cover pre-existing conditions
You are enrolled upon Abercrombie & Kent's receipt of payment of the insurance premium (in addition to required deposits and/or final balances).
Will my current homeowners, renters, credit card, or health insurance policies cover me during my trip?
Other insurance may not offer coverage while you travel due to coverage terms, restrictions, or limitations. These policies typically do not provide trip cancellation coverage and some health insurance plans may not pay for medical expenses incurred outside of the United States (e.g., Medicare, certain HMOs, etc.).
Are services booked outside of A&K, such as airfare or hotel arrangements, covered under A&K’s Guest Protection Program?
Yes. If you wish to cover the cost of airfare or other travel services that you book on your own in conjunction with your A&K journey, contact Abercrombie & Kent or your travel advisor so the cost of these services can be included in the premium and paid with your reservation.
When will I receive my Allianz Global Assistance policy documents?
Approximately 2 weeks after the premium payment is received by A&K, Allianz Global Assistance will email policy documents for each traveller provided an email address is given at the time of booking. If no email address is given, policy documents will be mailed to the guest address on file.
When does coverage go into effect and will it cover me for the entire length of my trip?
The Trip Cancellation coverage takes effect upon receipt of the insurance premium by Abercrombie & Kent. All other benefits will take effect at 12:01 a.m. on your scheduled departure date and location. Your coverage will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on your scheduled completion date or your return to your origination point as stated on your tickets, whichever is earlier.
Can I cancel my travel insurance and get a refund?
When you purchase the Guest Protection Program you automatically get 15 days (or more depending on your state of residence) to review your policy documents. Within that period, you can cancel your plan for a full refund if you’re not satisfied, as long as you haven’t filed a claim or departed on your journey.
Does Allianz Global Assistance provide assistance while I'm travelling?
Allianz Global Assistance’s 24/7 Global Assistance provides access to the services of a highly trained, multi-lingual staff to assist you around the clock with such emergencies as finding local medical professionals, replacing lost/stolen travel documents, and much more. They are also equipped to respond in many unexpected circumstances.
If an emergency should arise during your trip, call Allianz Global Assistance immediately at 800 654 1908 (within the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands) or 804 281 5700 (outside of the U.S., call collect) and give the details of your problem or medical emergency.
Cancel Anytime Questions
Does A&K offer Cancel Anytime coverage?
Yes. You can upgrade your Guest Protection Program by purchasing Cancel Anytime coverage. Cancel Anytime coverage is only available for trips up to $50,000 per person. This coverage varies for select states including NY, WA & VA.
What does the Guest Protection Program with Cancel Anytime reimburse?
If you purchased the Cancel Anytime option and cancel your trip due to a non-covered reason, you may be reimbursed for up to 75% of the cancellation penalties (maximum reimbursement is $37,500 for most states). Please review the policy details as there are some general exclusions.
When is payment due for the Cancel Anytime coverage?
The Cancel Anytime coverage may only be purchased in combination with the Guest Protection Program and is due within 14 days of your initial trip deposit.
When do I need to cancel by with Cancel Anytime coverage?
You may cancel up to day of departure however A&K must be notified of the cancellation.
Does Cancel Anytime apply if I want to cancel a portion of my trip?
No. In order to file a Cancel Anytime claim the entire journey must be cancelled.
Claims Questions
What happens if I need to cancel my trip?
Contact your travel advisor, Abercrombie & Kent and Allianz Global Assistance as soon as possible in the event of a claim, as the plan will not pay benefits for any additional charges incurred due to a delay in notifying your advisor or Abercrombie & Kent of your cancellation. You can file a claim via the Allz® TravelSmart App, by phone, email or online.
What happens if my travelling companion cancels their trip but I still want to travel?
If your travelling companion cancels due to a covered reason under Abercrombie & Kent's Guest Protection Program and you have to pay a single supplement charge, the program will reimburse you for this expense.
What if bad weather is predicted where I plan to travel? Will Abercrombie & Kent's Guest Protection Program cover me if I cancel my trip?
If inclement weather causes a complete cessation of your flight and you are unable to reach your destination for at least 24 consecutive hours from the originally scheduled arrival time, you would be eligible under the Trip Cancellation/Trip Interruption benefit. For delays of five hours or more, the plan provides Trip Delay protection.
How do I get reimbursement if my bags and/or personal items are damaged/stolen/lost while I am travelling?
First, obtain verification from the appropriate authority to whom you reported the loss (for example, airline, hotel, transportation official, police, etc.). The baggage portion of the program can reimburse the cost of repair or replacement for the luggage and covered contents inside the luggage up to the plan limits. Upon your return home, you can file a claim via the Allz® TravelSmart App, by phone, email or online; include any response you may have received from the party responsible for the loss (airline, hotel, etc.) or your Homeowner's policy if you have a rider for specific articles.
If I require medical care while on my trip, can my medical bills be reimbursed?
Yes. The plan can reimburse your medical expenses up to $75,000 (varies by state) due to a covered accident or illness that occurs during your trip. In order to be reimbursed, save any receipts and statements from the treating physician. Upon your return home, file a claim via the Allz® TravelSmart App, by phone, email or online. Benefits are subject to plan terms, conditions and limitations.

Be sure to have your Allianz Policy Number, which was provided in your Travel Insurance Policy documents received from Allianz Global Assistance. In addition, be prepared to provide a summary of the incident related to your claim as well as any documentation of your loss and the reimbursement amount requested.
